 FleetBroadband 150

Posted in Delta Wave News (RSS), General Industry News (RSS)

Inmarsat FleetBroadband 150 is about to be released for public consumption. I think this is a very exciting development, and will find a large market, especially amongst the over 50k current Inmarsat Mini-M users. The equipment pricing is about the same as the older Mini-M equipment, but offers a world of differences when it comes to what the service offers.

According to Thrane and Thrane: "FleetBroadband features the smallest, lightest FleetBroadband antenna to date, which enables simple user-installation, so smaller professional vessels and larger yachts with a requirement for reliable, high quality global internet and voice communication can enter the broadband era with a true IP solution for the first time."

It offers simultaneous voice and data, IP connection for e-mail and internet/intranet access, 150kbs both directions, and digital satellite phone service with exceptional call quality. Last Week, I was honored to have been invited to the official Inmarsat Launch of FleetBroadband 150 in Miami.

Last Week, I was honored to have been invited to the official Inmarsat Launch of FleetBroadband 150. Both Addvalue and Thrane and Thrane had equipment on hand. Have to say I was quite impressed with the size of the dome. The Sailor 150 is only 12" diameter x 10" high. The Addvalue 150 dome is slightly smaller.

While equipment will not ship until "June sometime", hands on demonstrations were given.

I told the Addvalue engineer that the handset volume was very low, and that they really need to increase the ringer volume, especially to accommodate the sometimes very noisy environments on some of the tugs and work vessels. A couple of days later at an Inmarsat gathering, the engineer came to me with a large grin, and said that they had obliged that request.

We hope to have a demo unit very soon.

Equipment pricing is already available, and Delta Wave will be offering an introductory price for both. (Addvalue 150 will go for $4,395.00, while the Thrane unit is $4,995.00.)

Additional information can be gathered at: Delta Wave Communications Web Site

Below are some pictures I took of the antenna units:

Delta Wave Now Offers Engenius Durafon Products

Posted in Delta Wave News (RSS)

Delta Wave Named Engenius Durafon Authorized Dealer

Delta Wave Communications Inc., has become an authorized reseller of Engenius Duraphone products.

The EnGenius DuraFon Pro, for example, is an industrial cordless phone system that doubles as a two-way communications network. It works behind any analog port of a PBX, phone system or analog phone line.

Mark Borner, V.P. of Sales at Delta Wave says “It is a perfect fit as an option that will work with Delta Wave’s mobile satellite communications products. These include Inmarsat and Iridium mobile satellite devices that include RJ11 input ports, that operate globally in remote areas where traditional land line service is not available. It is a perfect fit for customers who require extended coverage and quick deployment for access for telephone coverage, with the added benefit of a private two-way communications network.”

While coverage ranges from up to 12 Floors in-building, the DuraFon also covers of in building 250,000 sq. ft. of warehouse-type coverage and 3,000 acres in open areas such as docks, marine staging areas, work yards, even from one marine vessel to another if they are operating in close proximity. Users can also communicate through a 2-Way Talk Path (phone) or 2-Way Radio communication.

Given the freedom associated with mobility, workers can guiltlessly address various situations, some which may call them away from a desk station. The devices are a cost-effective alternative to some of the two-way services offered by mobile phone service providers, as there are no airtime charges incurred for two-way service.

Voice pages can be done so privately, or via group broadcast. Being an innovator of custom design that anticipates client needs, the DuraFon brand is as simple to use as any business telephone to make, receive, transfer and park calls.

Advanced PBX function programming menu makes even complex PBX features easy to use with the follow through of a few basic steps. For example, the 2-Way Radio feature simply requires a “one-button push” to broadcast a radio page.

Lastly, our systems work behind any PBX or Key System minimizing costly installation. DuraFon systems work with any standard electrical 120-volt AC wall outlet and any standard analog telephone line port. So there’s no need to worry about special wiring EnGenius Industrial Cordless systems provide a value-added solution to industries reliant upon the versatility and efficiency of cordless phone communication.

Companies operating within the Oil and Gas markets, outdoor mining areas, and many others will benefit from instant, reliable, cost-effective, out-of-the-box deployment of the DuraFon brand.

 New Inmarsat Satellite Direct Service

Posted in Delta Wave News (RSS), Iridium Service Bulletins (RSS)

Delta Wave has a new service to offer called Inmarsat Satellite Direct.

Satellite Direct is a means of placing calls to Inmarsat terminals either via a two-staged toll free access or via direct U.S. or U.K number assignment (Satellite Direct Plus).

Satellite Direct® enables users to place double-stage fixed-to-mobile calls from any location in the world to any satellite terminal.

Charges are as per your current voice airtime rates from your Inmarsat terminal. (Much lower than your LD provider.)

Key benefits:

* Universal: available for Inmarsat, Iridium, Thuraya and other Low Earth Orbit satellite services.

* Flexible: no monthly fees or fixed network mark-ups for satellite calls through toll-free numbers (Satellite Direct).

* Practical: features include Calling Line Identification (CLID) and Quick Number dialing (Satellite Direct)

* Satellite Direct offers a means of reaching the remote user via Caller ID (CLID) functions which eliminate the need to enter PIN Codes. Up to 99 CLID's may be assigned per account.

*Satellite Direct also offers Quick Number (QN) assignments per Satellite Direct account. QN's are mapped up to 10 Inmarsat terminals. By dialing the platform using one of the 10 QN's one would not need to enter the destination Inmarsat number.

*Used in conjunction with CLID, it turns it into a single staged platform for no monthly fee.

* Satellite Direct Plus offers US or UK phone number mapping to your terminal for a monthly fee of $29.00.

Can't beat that!

MARYVILLE, TN NOVEMBER 16, 2010 – Global Marine Networks the leaders in advancing satellite data speed and services, today announced the introduction of the GMN webXaccelerator for ship-to-shore and remote communications needs for the commercial fishing, marine transport, cruise ships, offshore oil rigs, and first-response communications coordination markets. The webXaccelerator is a data accelerator and control router that gives users of satellite and other wireless data systems unprecedented control of their satellite data installations, while providing data speeds up to five times faster than uncompressed rates.

• SmartCompression™ gives up to five times faster data speeds than uncompressed rates

• Usage controls can limit groups or individual users by time, megabytes, or web site white/black listing

• Pin codes let customers generate new revenue by sharing or selling unique pin codes to crews, clients or passengers

• Firewall filtering by MAC or TCP/IP address and/or port number provide advanced controls

• Seamless failover service redirects data feeds giving users the ultimate reliability of changing between different satellite networks on the fly
